Description : Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 1292 BCE. A hand-carved steatite scarab of ovoid form covered in lustrous olive-green glaze. The topside presents with insectile features such as a folded wing carapace, sinuous legs, and a petite head. The bottom is incised with a recumbent sphinx, and between its wings is a cartouche meant for an individual named, Men Neb Hetep. The scarab is pierced lengthwise for suspension. Size: 0.6 L x 0.48 W x 0.26 H (1.5 cm x 1.2 cm x 0.7 cm) Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection, ex-Alex Malloy collection, 1990s All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
