Description : Egypt, Late Dynastic to Romano-Egyptian period, ca. 664 BCE to 300 CE, Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A wearable necklace and ring made from ancient glass, jasper, and faience beads set on modern gilt-silver chains and findings. The necklace features chains with a push clasp, a curved pin finding strung with red jasper and golden glass beads, and at the center is the gadrooned or melon shaped faience bead encased with modern end caps and wires. The ring is comprised of a modern U-shaped band capped by a straight pin that contains gold glass beads, fused together. In antiquity these beads were fabricated by layering colorless glass over gold foil.
