Description : Egypt, Late Dynastic to Ptolemaic Period, ca. 664 to 30 BCE. Bronze figure of a seated Osiris. The seated mummiform god wearing the Atef crown, the face with recessed eyes and plaited false beard, holding the crook and flail in his crossed arms. Size: 5.25 H (13.3 cm), 6.75 H (17.1 cm) on included custom stand. Osiris is the Egyptian Lord of the Underworld and Judge of the Dead, brother-husband to Isis, and one of the most important gods of ancient Egypt. The name 'Osiris' is the Latinized form of the Egyptian Usir which is interpreted as 'powerful' or 'mighty'.
