Description : Wood with a worn and varied black patina of ritual use with white kaolin encrustations Ivory Coast, early 20th century Dan people Mask in the shape of a zoomorphic creature with horns Cylindrically protruding eyes, pyramidal shaped nose, curved tusks and a wide, open mouth The outer edge with small holes Inside old inventory numbers With a metal base Height of the mask: c. 31 cm Good, age related condition Provenance: Private collection Munich Published in Karl-Ferdinand Schädler, Encyclopedia of African Art and Culture, p. 457, Panterra Verlag 2008Condition: The mask is in good, age related condition with usual signs of wear. The patina partly rubbed, drying cracks, wormy (inactive) and partly loss of material especially at the edge. The height of the mask is c. 31 cm.
