A cast-brass sword handle of an intricate form bearing an abstract zoomorphic pommel, a wire-wrapped hand guard, and an openwork upper guard. The handle is adorned with several concentric semicircular motifs that enable a greater grip for the sword-wielder, and the entire accessory is covered in fine layers of patina. Size: 3.2 W x 6.8 H (8.1 cm x 17.3 cm) Provenance: ex-private collection of actor Anthony Quinn and his wife Katherine, Bristol, Rhode Island, USA acquired prior to 2000 All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. Condition report : Original blade missing as shown. Small area of loss to openwork hand guard portion. Light encrustations, softening to some finer details, and slight bending to overall form of upper guard and hand guard. Great patina throughout.
