Description : Details: This lot includes two antique, hand-colored engraved plates by Carlo Lasinio, excised from the book I monumenti dell'Egitto e della Nubia disegnati dalla spedizione scientifico-letteraria toscana in Egitto, distribuiti in ordine di materie by Ippolito Rosellini (in nine volumes, 1832-1844). Plate XXVI depicts four figures and many hieroglyphs. Two figures on the top of the plate wear white cloths, one of which holds two scrolls, one unraveled with hieroglyphs clearly visible. The two figures nearer to the bottom of the plate are wearing colorful cloths, both leading horned animals, possibly antelopes. Plate XXVII depicts two rows of figures. The top row depicts two children riding the back of a donkey, following four men with various instruments/weapons. The bottom row depicts four figures with a child. The child holds a spear in his hand. These plates are from the holdings of Archaeologia Books and Prints. Condition / Notes: Plate XXVII shows light age toning, concentrated around the edges, a 1/2 closed tear at the right edge, and a very small closed tear at the top edge. Also visible on this plate are a few faint creases. Plate XXVI shows considerable foxing, as well as two very small tears at the top edge. Also visible is light age toning around the edges.
