Brutalist style, Chess figures housed in a wooden presentation box with top bovine-leather board squared for playing area. Each piece is individually cast and is a work of art. Finish patina for one side is reddish the other silverish tint. Fantastic semi-abstract yet true and recognizable chess pieces. African characters for Kings and Queens, Antelopes for Bishops, Wilder Beasts for Knights, Rhinos for Rooks and tribal shields for Pawns. Likely from Kenya. Total box size ~23 x 20 x 2.5. Heavy, total ~15LB. Excellent Condition. Origin Africa 1950s.
