Description : Originally made by ÒironsmithsÓ and traditionally worn only by them of wood, polychrome or made pigments, Caolin Though today also made for farmers. They are Mainly farmers. Their masks represent the spirits of the forest, and Especially did of one of the founders of the group: this spirit is Believed to have taken part in all the ceremonies and important festivals of the Nunuma. Though Bobo masks were primarily used in initiations. The Bwa people, also known as Bobo Ule, carved masks which represent protective bush spirits. this mask was carved to represent SU, a bush spirit. The mask is danced in village festivals honoring harvests, births, weddings, funerals etc. Condition good, with scuff marks and few dings. Total Height 29'' W. 10'' D. 8 1/2''.
