This is the rating and price for Bembe Head, 1989.0
Description : Bembe Head
Democratic Republic of the Congo
This Janus head has particular faceted features. The two faces are predominantly characterized by oval, deep-grooved orbital cavities that occupy the largest area of the face. The eyes in the center are protruding and circular. The highly schematic triangular shaped mouths reflect a modern view of Western art. It is called Kalunga like the initiation masks because it is presented with two faces. Beautiful patina from use.
