Description : Wood brown colored Central Mali, West Africa, 1st third to mid-20th century Bambara people Dimensions: 66 x 95 cm (length x height) Good condition Object is regular taxed. 19% VAT is added to the purchase price for deliveries within the EU.The figure of a rider, sitting on a horse, whose bridle, saddle and rear body is decorated with geometrical carvings, comes from the first third of the 20th century. The face of the male figure is tattooed, the head bears a serrated comb-like hairstyle. The depiction of riders expresses clan status, prestige and power in many African clans, as well as in the Bambara. The figure is in good condition with minimal signs of age and wear. Weather-related cracks in the wood, especially at the base, the neck part of the horse and the rider's head, can be seen. The dimensions are 66 x 95cm (length x height). (asi)Literature: E.
