This is the rating and price for Anyi Pregnant Figure, second half 20th cen

Description : Additional Information: This well carved pregnant standing female figure comes from the Anyi, one of a number of small, segmented groups living along the Atlantic coast called the ",Lagoon Peoples", who share a common artistic legacy heavily influenced by Akan traditions. This well-carved figure has stylistic elements that has links to the Anyi who live to the north-east of the coastal area. Their Baule neighbors have influenced Anyi styles and are evident in this figure. The frontal stance, narrow T-shaped nose and a very small chiseled mouth almost indistinguishable at the end of the chin and her hairstyle, all mark Baule influences however her stance and slightly elongated ringed neck  ,and in the prominent abdomen indicate Anyi or Lagoon region traits.  , Anyi figures such as this  ,were often used by diviners or ",healers", who would make offerings to the figure who was to carry messages to the spirit world. Having an area about the size of Germany, squarish Cô,te d'Ivoire is bordered on the south by the Atlantic Ocean, on the west by Liberia and Guinea, to the north by Mali and Burkina Faso, and on the east by Ghana. Except for the western hill country around Man, Cô,te d'Ivoire is mostly flat. The coastal area is notable for an inland lagoon that starts at the Ghanaian border and stretches 300km (190mi) along the entire eastern half of the coast. The peoples of the Lagoon area are a loosely-mixed association of 12 different language groups, and their arts are rare and difficult to attribute. They are all related but, if studied closely, one may find elements that facilitate identification. I have examined this piece and agree with the description. Niangi Batulukisi, PhD. ,
