Description : Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, ca. 715 to 300 BCE. This is a collection with three amulets of Bes, two somewhat naturalistic examples, missing suspensions loops and with their glaze gone. The third is more stylized, pierced for suspension, and with green glaze remaning. All were made for protection and magic to ward off evil. Size of largest: 1.5 L (3.8 cm)
Provenance: Ex-Horatio and Patsy Melas Collection Switzerland, Acquired before 1967 in Alexandria, Egypt.
