Description : An African Executioner's Sword 1939 etched to blade on one side and Noto Toma to other side L 77cm PROVENANCE: John Wolfe St Alban was a opal miner, inventor, successful entrepreneur and art collector who acquired a diverse collection of Asian, Oceanic and Aboriginal art, militaria, antiquities and exotic objects for over forty years prior to his death in 2012. In 1983 he discovered an exceptionally rare eight metre, opalised plesiosaur skeleton which is on permanent display in the South Australian Museum. Mr. St Alban purchased his Asian art works directly from China in the 1970's and 1980's. Many significant pieces of Asian art from the collection are now in the Golden Dragon Museum in Bendigo, Victoria.
