Description : [ African Tribal Art ] Nigeria, Yoruba, Igbo. A nicely carved Ikenga, or personal power figure. There are many types, ranging from very simple and abstract, to this type, carved in the round. This figure, painted predominantly in ochre color, with black and white accenting. Two curved horns are atop the scarified head, in the left hand, a severed head, in the right, a dagger. A double-tiered skirt completes the figure, which sits upon a stool. H: 15.5in.
