Description : (3 of 3) African Kuba Anthropomorphic cup, Democratic Republic of Congo, carved of very thin wood with face and handle. The Kuba Kingdom, also rendered as the Kingdom of the Kuba, Bakuba or Bushongo, was a pre-colonial kingdom in Central Africa. The Kuba Kingdom flourished between the 17th and 19th centuries in the region bordered by the Sankuru, Lulua, and Kasai rivers in the south-east of the modern-day Democratic Republic of the Congo. Condition Report: Early 1900's old repair. Provenance: Private collection collected between 1910 and 1930. SIZE: see attached ruler photo.
