Features: The 13 blade is clearly ceremonial given the decorative patterning running along its length. The patterns include leaf-like wedges, curved waves, and careful grooves. Beneath the main blade is an egg shaped loop, split down the middle, made of the same material as the blade. The metal imbeds itself in the wooden handle, but leather straps ensure it stays in place. At the base of the hilt a ball of leather and string weighs it down.

Condition: The blade has grown dark with age, but is free of marring scratches or chips.The leather is brittle, but retains its form. The ball at the end is flaking and dark, with a multitude of holes and tears.
History: During the construction of an Ngombe sword, powerful beauty was achieved at the expense of function. This symmetric blade displays heavily detailed incised decoration - whilst a portion of the wooden hilt was copper plated. The skin of an animal covering the hilt was said to contain substances to give the object magical powers.
