Description : Circa 3rd Century A.D. With a central medallion embossed with a facing head of Medusa framed by a plain and a twisted wire and flat flange, the open loop-in-loop chain with two ribbed cylindrical collars, one affixed to a loop at one side of the medallion, the other joined by a hook 143/4 in. (37.5 cm) long NOTES Necklaces with Medusa medallions were common during the Roman period in Egypt. The type is frequently shown being worn by women on funerary portraiture.
