Description : Details: This lot consists of the antique engravings shown in the corresponding images. Included in this lot are eight plates excised from the first and fifth volumes of Description de l'Egypte : ou, Recueil des observations et des recherches qui ont ete faites en Egypte pendant l'expedition de l'armee francaise (published between 1809 and 1828). These engravings depict various sites around Ancient Egypt, including the pyramids at Memphis, plans and details from sculptures at the temple at Contra Latopolis, and the city of Esna. Plates present include the following: numbers 39, 87, 89, from the first volume, and number 15 from the fifth volume. This collection of engravings is from the holdings of Archaeologia Books and Prints. Established in 1983, Archaeologia was known for providing scholarly books of quality on the archaeology of Ancient Egypt, the Near East, Greece & Rome, and the Pre-Columbian Americas.
