Beschreibung : Carved wooden male ancestor idol from the Hemba of the Congo, central Africa. rarely do I come across good Old Hemba sculpture such as this example. Note the exaggerated and angled head , with large coffee bean eyes and full lips. The figure shows wear and weathering and please note the oily shiny patina on the face from the hands of man over generations. The sculpture has fine adze marks and is a classic example, truly a Great work of Hemba Tribal Art.
