Beschreibung : Pair of wooden fetish Dolls from the Fon Tribe in Togo, c. 1920s. Fetishes (from the Portuguese word feitio, meaning artificial, or false), ‘an inanimate object worshiped for its supposed magical powers or because it is considered to be inhabited by a spirit.‘ Wooden dolls are wrapped in fabric and iron metal attachments. Each Dolls has a cup and lock for wishes. Each measures approx 18 inches in height by 7.5 inches in width by 6 inches in depth.
