Beschreibung : Exquisite ancient Egyptian (museum exhibited) carnelian beaded necklace with 11 well defined scarabs of serpentine, jasper, feldspar, carnelian, glass, amethyst, steatite, lapis stones. 6 scarabs have hieroglyphs or cryptographic formulas on underside, the remaining 5 are plain. Each attached with newer wire to necklace & newer gold ring clasps at each end of necklace. DATE: Overall 1500- 700 BCE SIZE: Necklace 13long (32.5 cm) scarabs range 1x 3/4 to 3/4 x 3/8 (2.5cm) CONDITION: Excellent overall, all scarabs intact except possible repair to 1 yellow jasper scarab plus modest superficial cracks and wear on some stones. EXHIBITED: Metropolitan Museum New York 1920-38 #2152.18 (copy of Met. Museum catalog card included),Museum of Fine Art, Boston 1945-60, Museum of Man, California 1968 .
