Beschreibung : **Originally Listed At $350** West Africa, Nigeria, Yoruba peoples, ca. early 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden figure, known as an Ibeji, representing a deceased male twin. The figure has stocky, delineated legs with a strand of trade bead wrapped around one ankle, wide hips, a broad torso, and plateaued shoulders. A thick neck supports a cylindrical head with incised almond-shaped eyes and drilled pupils, a flat, triangular nose, full lips, and several ritual scarification marks across its cheeks.
