Beschreibung : Title: Libyan Notes Author: Anthony Wilkin, David Randall-Maciver - David Randall-MacIver FBA was a British-born archaeologist, who later became an American citizen. He is most famous for his excavations at Great Zimbabwe, which provided the first solid evidence that the site was built by Shona peoples. Randall-MacIver began his career working with Flinders Petrie in Egypt, uncovering the mortuary temple of Senwosret III. He moved to America when he was appointed as Egyptology curator at the Penn Museum, University of Pennsylvania, in 1905. Condition / Notes: This antique first edition is bound in dark red cloth, with stamped gold lettering on the spine. The front cover features decoration in gold of a man in traditional dress. The covers exhibit rubbing and light edge wear, with some fraying at the head of the spine cover. The binding is sound. The endpapers show moderate foxing. The pages display light toning and scattered light foxing, most apparent in the beginning of the volume. The color frontispiece depicts a comparison of Kabyle and prehistoric Egyptian pottery.
