II : Planches Condition / Notes: This is a scarce author-signed first edition of this work, with an inscription at the top of the front flyleaf of the first volume reading Pour comprendre le secret des deux Speos de Ramses / Ch. Desroches Noblecourt. This set is made up of a small (11.25 x 14.25) and a large folio (13 x 17.25). These volumes are bound in their original pale blue moiré silk covers, with color insets to the front covers and stamped gilt lettering to the spines. The books show minor external wear, with light shelfwear to the covers, including sunning to the spines and the extremities of the covers. The bindings are firm. The volumes are adorned with pictorial endpapers. The pages are clean and bright. The edges of the text block of both volumes exhibit light scattered foxing. This work is profusely illustrated with b&w photographic plates, full-page illustrations, and diagrams. The foreword is bilingual in Arabic and French, the main text is in French.
