Beschreibung : This fabulous piece is a sitting female figure sculpted from wood by the Attye tribe in Cote d'Ivoire & Ghana, Africa, and dates to the early to mid 20th century. The figure features an elaborate hair style, with a blend of a unique ''Lagoon'' appearance with Bale artistry. Piece is in good condition for its age, showing signs of use with a very nice patina. Left side of base has been damaged with some wood pieces missing, and a crack running up the back of the left leg. Measures approximately 20.5 x 6 x 5 with a total weight of 4 lbs. Provenance: These pieces were collected over a period of several decades out of collections from America and throughout Europe, including France, Germany, Belgium, and Amsterdam beginning in the early 1960s. The items in this collection have been identified by George Mack, former director of the Arizona African Art Museum.
