Diagonal chisel marks across raised surface are ancient scoring done for better adhesion of preparatory gesso layer, which was then painted. Note areas of losses and shallow chips, including on neck, below central column of inscription and in lower right corner. Possible remains of gesso on back of head and adjoining raised area. Minor chips and scratches overall. Saw marks on the back. Mounted on a metal stand.
