Anmerkung : Artist's Resale Right ("droit de Suite"). If the Artist's Resale Right Regulations 2006 apply to this lot, the buyer also agrees to pay us an amount equal to the resale royalty provided for in those Regulations, and we undertake to the buyer to pay such amount to the artist's collection agent.Shawzin was born in Transvaal, South Africa, and studied in London and New York. She has participated in several international solo and group exhibitions. Shawzin's sculpture explores the human form. She rarely depicts facial features, using instead, the form of the body and posture of the sculpture to portray the emotion of the figures. In 'Seated Mother Holding Baby' Shawzin presents the loving relationship between a mother and her child.'I have always found the female figure fascinting, the image in my mind has already been simplified before I start ... My figures, although reclining, are not static but full of movement' (see Exhibition cataologue, W H Patterson, The Sculpture of Stella Shawzin, London, 2007).
