This African wooden mask originated from the people of Ngbaka who are located in Bosobole in the province of Aquator in Zaire. The mask is painted red and white and dated from the middle of the 20th century. These masks dance during the initiation- and circumcision celebrations when the initiators return to the village. The masks were danced by members of a group who are in charge of preventing enchantment and witchcraft. The wooden mask is in very good condition with light signs of age. The mask comes with mounting. The height of the object measures in 25 cm. (bal) Literature:
