Beschreibung : Male Kifwebe masks like the present one are called masque du case (hut masks). They were not danced and therefore had no holes on the rim for costume attachment. They were probably suspended from the ceiling of a hut. These type of Kifwebe masks are quite rare. From 1978 until 1993 he worked at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels, where he specialised in formal analysis of works of art.
