Das ist der Preis für die folgende Bewertung: African Musical Instruments For Witchcraft 1900'S

Beschreibung : The rhree (3) small gourds came from the Central African Republic and were used by witchdoctors to drive away evil spirits at the end of the rainy season and attract the good spirits of the dry season. The gourds had holes bored in them and were played like a flute - the witchdoctor would blow air over the holes and get sounds with different pitches. That way evil spirits like mosquitoes were cast away. The smallest gourd measures 1 3/8 in. in diameter and the largest one measures about 2 1/4 in. in diameter. The larger piece is an African hand harp made with wood and bicycle spokes that had a twangy sound when you plucked the instrument. Villagers would play this harp to keep animals away while they were walking in the bush. The villagers were not rich either, so they would look for car and bicycle parts - any metal they could find - and use the metal to craft instruments and other artifacts like this. The harp measures 14 3/4 in. long x 7 3/4 in. wide. From the Dale Baker collection.
