Beschreibung : Details: These vintage, hand-carved wooden sculptures were part of a collection of folk art and artifacts assembled by a teacher who traveled in east Africa in the 1950s and 1960s. The two fantastic figures were probably made by the Makonde of Tanzania. Both are carved of heavy, dense wood, and the taller one is 13 high. The third figure of a standing man appears to be older, and was carved of a dense, beautifully grained wood. It is 10.5 tall. Please note a hairline crack in the sculpture of the man, which appeared as the wood dried, and a crack in the sculpture of the upside down figure.
