This figure was exhibited alongside his collection of Modern paintings Acquired in 1952 this date places Marcus among the f st generation of American collectors of African art like Alfred Barnes and a handful of other collectors Marcus saw the aesthetic dynamic between modern paintings and exceptional examples of African sculpture.
