Referred to as shield like in their design, these masks typically have shield like carvings, concave oval shapes where eyes are located and some sort of protruding mouth. This, piece having all of those features, is truly an iconic mask from this culture. Provenance: These pieces were collected over a period of several decades out of collections from America, and throughout Europe, including France, Germany, Belgium, and Amsterdam beginning in the early 1960s.
