Note : Note: This work is part of the series Only Half the Picture (2002–2006), in which Muholi explores the intimate and often fraught experiences of black lesbian women in South Africa. The photos combine aesthetics and activism and contribute to making a marginalized community visible. Muholi's work is internationally recognized and is included in the collections of Tate Modern and the Stedelijk Museum, among others.
