The lithograph in four colors on Ecus laid paper with the title ‘Makishi’ by the Ghanaian-German painter Owusu-Ankomah (b. 1956) is dated to 2000. In his works, the artist addresses themes of identity and the body in using his trademark motif of Adinkra symbolism. Adinkra is a symbol language from the Ivory Coast and Ghana. Here depicted is one of his characteristic figures. The print was published by Achenbach und Costa Kunstverlag in the portfolioKunstkoffer – Dialog der Kulturen. It is number 35 from a limited edition of 100 pieces.

The lithograph is signed and dated lower right in pencil ‘K.O. Owusu-Ankomah 2000’ and numbered lower left in pencil ‘35/100’. The dry stamp ‘Quensen Lithographie’ is lower right. The print comes with the original portfolio that is inscribed. The condition is very good. The dimensions of the lithograph are 76 x 57.1 cm. (tm)
