A lovely trio of hand-carved wooden fertility figures, each exhibiting an abstract columnar form atop a planar base. The first figure bears no breasts while the 2 taller figures each have a pair of pendulous breasts draped in front of their incised abdomens. The tallest and shortest figure both have crested coiffures with minimal facial features while the medium-sized figure has a petite, delineated face in front of a pair of perforated, tab-shaped ears. The Mossi peoples are well-known for their wooden dolls. Mossi dolls are typically carved by male blacksmiths and are given to girls for play and the attainment of fertility.
