Descrizione : Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate Period, 21st to 24th Dynasty, ca. 1069 to 720 BCE. An interesting, mold-formed faience scarab of a sizable, ovoid form covered in lustrous sapphire blue glaze. The topside features a convex wing carapace, sinuous legs, and an incised sun disc surmounting the slender head and frilled clypeus. Within the drilled suspension hole is a modern gilt copper swivel pin. The underside of the scarab features a column of hieroglyphs bearing the name of 18th Dynasty pharaoh Thutmose III (ca. 1479-1425 BCE) beside a standing god wearing the Pschent crown of Upper and Lower Egypt.
