Descrizione : Bronze Egypt, Late Period (30th Dynasty) to Ptolemaic Period Amulet in form of a standing statuette of Osiris, god of the dead Dimensions: 7.1 x 1.6 x 0.8 cm (width x height x depth) Provenance: Private Collection Bruno Wertz Scientific research: Dr. Jan Moje, Free University of Berlin (see references below) The amulet originates from Late Period of ancient Egypt, 30 υ th Dynasty to Ptolemaic Period (380-30 BCE). This small amulet depicts a standing, mummy shaped Osiris, god of the dead, wearing an Atef crown with horns and sun disk of his head. Up front the forehead juts an Uraeus. Both arms are crossed in front of the breast, whereby one hand is holding a frond, and the other one a sceptre. A separately-crafted eyelet is attached to the backside of the neck to wear the piece as amulet on a chain or the like. The bronze amulet is in complete condition, which is astonishingly good, regarding its old age. Details are mainly abraded. The bronze is tarnished and the patina crusty. The bronze figure is installed on a modern Plexiglas plinth. The dimensions of the amulet are 7.1 x 1.6 x 0.8 cm (width x height x depth). Auctionata would like to express its deep gratitude to Dr. Jan Moje for the scientific preparation of the collection and the research for the text.
