Descrizione : Details: Antique DOGON HAND CARVED GRANARY DOOR with Lock Hinge Corners and 18 Raised Arm Figures Decorative Geometric Border Mali African Art This lot features an antique African hand carved granary door, which was made by the Dogon Tribe of present day Mali. The door has been carved from a single piece of wood, and is adorned by 18 figures one of which also houses the locking latch. All of the figures have four lines cut across their stomachs except the figure that holds the lock, which has a more elaborate carving on the stomach denoting its status. The door also has a relief cut geometric border both around the edge of the door and around groups of six figures, creating the appearance of three panels.
