The American physician Morton (1799-1851), one of the founders of the Pennsylvania Medical College, believed in polygenism and that the skull capacity influenced the intellectual ability. To prove his theory, he studied in his famous Crania Americana (1839) the skulls of Causians, Africans, Indians, etc. In this work he focuses on the measurements and particularities of crania found in Egyptian tombs and compare them to other nationalities.Provenance : Edouard J.A.
