Artist'S Statement I Have Always Been Fascinated By Myths And Story Tales Of The Nigerian Culture. We Nigerians Have Still Managed To Keep Our Ancient Beliefs Close To Our Hearts And I Am Bringing Some Of Those Old Stories Back To Life With My Images. This Work Is Inspired By The Calabar Folklore Story In Which Mbotu, The King Of Old Town Calabar, Was Fighting With The Itu People. They Asked A Witch, Named Oyaikan, To Transform Herself Into A Young, Pretty Girl, Knowing That The King Could Not Resist Young Beauties. She Managed To Catch His Eye During A Play In Calabar And He Sent For Her. Alone At Night, She Pulled The Dagger She Was Hiding Between Her Bosom And Cut Off The Kings Head.
