The treatment of the panthers on the above lekanis, a rare form in the corpus of Boeotian pottery, is quite unlike the work of any of the few named Boeotian lekane painters. For another Boeotian lekanis with panthers on the underside see J. Boardman,

Condition report : One edge of the dish has been broken and the two large fragments have been reattached, with minimal infill visible along the breaklines. The repaired fragments measure 9.5cm wide and 4cm wide. Both handles are broken away and missing, as visible in the catalogue illustration. There is a small triangular chip to the edge of the foot. Other minor chips to the outer edge of the dish. There is a stable linear crack running through the central depression, with some overpainting to the orange ground and red bands in this area; there is some infill on the underside of the dish along this crack, visible running around the centre of the underside of the foot.
The painted decoration is very well preserved, and the colour of the added red details remain vibrant. The incised details are also well preserved. The interior of the dish has a slightly metallic finish to the black glaze. There are patches of encrustation visible on the interior.
