Consulter la cote et le prix de Luba Carved Wood Figure Of The Congo Republics

Description : This is a statue from the Dominican Republic of the Congo created in the mid to late 20th century. Known as Fetish Statues, these figures were created as icons of actual individuals or ancestors of the village people and used in ritual, ceremony. Smaller statues or miniatures would most often be created for the average person who did not have special status in the cummunity. Larger statuary pieces were created for figures who were presently, or historically of higher status or importance. The items in this collection have been identified by George Mack, former director of the Arizona African Art Museum. Whether you are a collector with a keen eye or, simply intrigued and excited about artistic cultural artifacts, this piece makes a magnificent addition to your collection! Piece is in good condition for its age, showing signs of use with a very nice patina
