Consulter la cote et le prix de Egyptian Graeco-Roman Glass Inlay Of A Bird, 2012

Description : Egypt, Graeco-Roman period, ca. 3rd to 1st century BCE. A stunning glass inlay, of a rough square form, depicting a stylized bird standing atop a crimson groundline. The bird exhibits white-and-black feathers on the wings and tail, slender yellow feet, a rounded chest, and a raised yellow-hued head with a narrow red beak. A thin band of vermilion glass outlines the avian figure which enables it to stand out against the emerald-green matrix. Inlays like this example were created as a lengthy cane of colored glass which was then cut to make several similarly-sized slices of the same image. Size: 0.75 W x 0.8 H (1.9 cm x 2 cm). A nearly-identical example - very likely sliced from the same glass cane - hammered for GBP 3,125 ($3,966) at Bonhams, London, New Bond Street Antiquities auction (October 24, 2012, lot 323): Provenance: private California, USA collection acquired prior to 1972 All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
