He excavated throughout Egypt (most notably he 'discovered' the tomb of Akhenaten in 1891–1892). He was also in charge of the transfer of collection of the Cairo Museum from its site at Giza to the current location in Cairo itself. (Information courtesy of Wikipedia), Georges Legrain - Georges Albert Legrain (4 October 1865 in Paris—22 August 1917 in Luxor) was a French Egyptologist., Gustave Jequier - Gustave Jequier, born in Neuchatel, Switzerland, in 1868 and died in 1946 in the same city, was an Egyptologist and one of the first archaeologists to excavate ancient Persian cities in what is now Iran. He was a member of Jacques de Morgan's 1901 Susa expedition, which led to the discovery of the famous Code of Hammurabi, now on display in the Louvre. , Jacques de Morgan - Jean-Jacques de Morgan (3 June 1857, Huisseau-sur-Cosson, Loir-et-Cher – 14 June 1924) was a French mining engineer, geologist, and archaeologist. He was the director of antiquities in Egypt during the 19th century, and excavated in Memphis and Dashur, providing many drawings of many Egyptian pyramids. He also worked at Stonehenge, and Persepolis, and many other sites. He also went to Russian Armenia, as manager of a copper mine at Akhtala. In 1887-89 he unearthed 576 graves around Alaverdi and Akhatala, near the Tiflis-Alexandropol railway line., Urbain Bouriant - Urbain Bouriant was a French Egyptologist, who discovered the Gospel of Peter in a tomb at Akhmim. He is best known from his translation of Al-Maqrizi, published as Description topographique et historique de l'Egypte (Paris 1895-1900). He was the collaborator of Gaston Maspero in 1880, when Maspero founded the French archaeological mission to Cairo, precursor of the Institut français d'archéologie orientale (IFAO). From 1883 to December 1886, he was a curator at the museum of Bulaq, then director of IFAO until 1898. In the season of 1883-84, Bouriant discovered the copy of the Great Hymn to the Aten, in the tomb of Ay at Amarna. This antique volume displays heavy black taping to the spine and edges. The marbled paper-covered boards show rubbing and scratching. The cracked hinges are also taped in the same manner. The front flyleaf and preliminary pages to page IX are detached. The lightly age-toned pages are clean and without markings. This work is profusely illustrated, with numerous textual illustrations and plates. This volume has been collated and appears complete. There are 9 plates, including the frontispiece, and numerous full page illustrations. The fold-out map and one other plate are in color. There is visible tape repair to the map.
