Descrizione : SARCOPHAGE D’HORUS FAUCON Debout, la divinité sous forme de faucon repose sur un socle rectangulaire au sommet d’un sarcophage creux. Les ailes fermées se croisent sur la queue, avec des détails de plumes incisées. Il porte la double couronne de Haute et Basse Egypte. Dès les premiers débuts de l’Égypte pharaonique, le faucon était identifié au dieu solaire Horus, l’une des figures les plus importantes du panthéon égyptien, dont les cultes étaient répandus dans toute l’Égypte. À partir de la Basse Époque, d’innombrables faucons furent momifiés et enterrés dans des nécropoles d’animaux sacrés, ou logés dans des cercueils creux en bronze comme celui-ci. L’extrémité ouverte du cercueil était probablement scellée par une fine feuille de métal une fois les restes insérés , cela a probablement été perdu lorsque le contenu a été supprimé. Standing on an integral rectangular plinth, atop a hollow rectangular sarcophagus, the closed wings crossing over the tail, with incised feather details, wearing the Double Crown of Upper and Lower Egypt. From the earliest beginnings of Pharaonic Egypt, the falcon was identified with the sun-god Horus, one of the most important figures of the Egyptian Pantheon, whose cults were spread throughout Egypt. From the Late Period onwards, innumerable falcons were mummified and buried within sacred animal necropoleis, or housed in hollow bronze coffins such as the present lot. The open end of the coffin was probably sealed by a thin sheet of metal once the remains were inserted, this was likely lost when the contents were removed. For similar, see S.
