Condition / Notes: This handsome antique set, a scarce first edition, has been rebound in quarter leather and marbled paper, with stamped gilt lettering to the spines. The exteriors are in excellent condition. The bindings are firm. The volumes contain new endpapers. A vignette is found on each title page: Site of Chaenoboscion in the first volume and The False Pyramid in the second volume. The pages exhibit light toning, scattered smudging, and occasional light foxing. Library markings appear on a preliminary page of each volume. Scholarly markings appear in pencil in the margins of some pages, including pages 89 and 515 of the first volume.
