Descrizione : Europe, Italy, Venice, found in Western Africa, ca. 19th century CE. A fine gathering of 3 wearable necklaces, each strung with dozens of hand-built glass trade beads of ovoid forms. The first necklace has light orange beads with primarily blue and green stripes as well as 1 yellow bead and 1 green bead. The second necklace is comprised of solely banana yellow beads with brown streaks. The longest necklace exhibits slender, mandarin-hued beads with speckles in hues of red, blue, and green. Trade beads played a major role in the age of European exploration and colonization, serving as currency on multiple continents.
