Descrizione : AN EGYPTIAN BRONZE SITULA Third Intermediate Period, Dynasty XXI-XXII, 1070-712 B.C. The tapering vessel with a rolled rim and rounded bottom, the handle, round in section, hooked into a ring on each side, engraved with a principal scene and accompanying hieroglyphic captions, depicting two male figures, bare-footed, clad in festive kilts and broad collars, their arms raised in adoration, captioned by six columns of text above containing a prayer to the god Amun-Re, and each individually captioned by a single column of text in the field before him, the right-most figure identified as Nakht, the vessel's owner, before them a train of five deities, each captioned: including Amun-Re, Lord of the Thrones of the Two Lands, Foremost of Ipet-sut, Lord of Heaven and Earth, depicted wearing a kilt, broad collar, double-plumed crown, armlets, bracelets and anklets, holding a was -scepter and ankh , Amun-Re, Lord of Ipet, depicted mummiform and ithyphallic, standing on a plinth in the shape of a maat -sign, wearing a double-plumed crown and broad collar, holding a flail, Mut, the great, Mistress of Isheru, wearing a long sheath, broad collar, tripartite wig with wings and a uraeus surmounted by a Double Crown, holding a wadj -scepter and an ankh , Khonsu in Thebes, Nefer-hotep, Lord of Ipet-sut, depicted mummiform, standing on a similar plinth, wearing a collar with a counter weight, with a beard, side lock, uraeus, and a crown composed of a crescent moon and a solar disk, holding a crook, flail and composite scepter, and Ptah who rises, standing mummiform on a similar plinth, wearing a broad collar, beard and cap crown surmounted by feathers and a solar disk, holding composite scepters, a horizontal band of hieroglyphs below in which the deities accord Nakht a goodly burial and offerings after a long life on Earth, the bottom decorated with a lotus motif 10Ÿ in. (27.3 cm) high including the handle
