Erik Laubscher (1927-2013)
Claude Marie Madeleine Bouscharain (1922- ) WATERFRONT signed, signed, dated 2004 and inscribed with the title on the stretcher on the reverse acrylic on canvas 74.5 by 100.5cm Donated by the artist. A painter of wide-ranging subject matter. Ships, mountains and hieratic figures recur in her work. Worked in oil until 1966, thereafter in acrylic. Exhibitions: she has participated in over forty group exhibitions from 1950 in the USA, South Africa, Belgium, Zimbabwe and Australia, 1959 Argus Gallery, Cape Town with Erik Laubscher, 1979 Cape Town Biennial, Invited artist, 1981 Republic Festival Exhibition, 1982 University of Stellenbosch and 1985 Drostdy Centre, Stellenbosch. Represented: Hester Rupert Art Museum, Graaff- Reinet, National Museum, Bloemfontein, Pretoria Art Museum, Sandton Municipal Collection, South African National Gallery and the University of the Orange Free State.
